Southport AI Support Service for Small Businesses

We have developed a plan to provide AI Support services, for small businesses, in Southport. This is the first step in Southport becoming a model AI-enabled town.

Audio conversation with AI

A conversation with Copilot asking it to describe to, Patrick Hurley our local MP, the latest work at The Innovation Centre, including design of the physical innovation space and AISDO (AI Strategy Development Organisation). Audio.

Strategic AI deployment for Water and AISDO

Detailed documentation covering the strategic use of AI in the Water industry and the creation of an AI Strategy Deployment Organisation, AISDO, to further the adoption of AI Strategies for national infrastructure management.

Ollama – Off-line AI

I’ve added a section on using AI on a local laptop, with no internet access. Ollama is used to load the AI – GPT 20b

Life

I’ve added a new page covering three images The Tree of Life, The Web of Life and The Breath of Life. The images cover all aspects of STEAM + AI including fractal graphics, digital art, AI, robotics, maths, engineering, coding, culture and ecology. Life.

The Legend of AI

I’m planning an introductory talk on AI and wanted a demonstration of how it can be used and its capabilities. Many of my stories incorporate legends, so I decided to create a legend – The Legend of AI.

Scratch Lesson Plans

I’ve added a new section on Scratch covering training resources. It covers Scratch animations, as used in schools, robotics and AI. Scratch. There’s also details of a more complicated Scratch project that combines art, robotics and AI. I’ve illustrated the use of Copilot and Magic School to produce lesson plans. Scratch Lesson Plan.

Teachers Tools for AI and STEAM

I’ve included a new section on AI and STEAM Tools for teachers. Its early days for tools in the UK but a number of tools are becoming more popular particularly in the US. I’m initially focusing on Magic School AI. Teachers tools for AI and STEAM.

Digital Art and AI Talk at Gallery More, Southport

Along with a number of artists, in the region, I was invited by Debs to do a talk on my art in her studio Gallery More, in the Wayfarers Arcade, Southport.

At the end of the talk I was asked if I had any notes or a video. I decided to put a simple video together covering the talk as a reminder for participants. It may also be of interest to anyone interested in Innovation or STEAM + AI. Its on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/EUD7v0nB6Us?si=qGODm5cOviMEUEPR

Innovation Centre Showcase and Design

I have used AI to support the design of a Showcase that will sit within a hall at the centre of the Innovation Centre. There is also a conceptual design for the Innovation Centre describing the activities and layout. There are a number of design and implementation options ranging from Larger Strategic Programmes through to small initial implementations that are designed to grow organically. There is also the minimalistic “Innovation Centre in a Box” and a “Bare Bones” option for individuals. Innovation Centre Design

The Reading Room

I’ve added a new project – The Reading Room

U3A Talk on AI

I’ve added the images I used for a talk to Formby U3A earlier in the year.

Innovation and AI

Just added this new section outlining the role of AI in redefining the approach to Innovation.

Innovation and AI

“The Guardians of The Void” Project

This new project merges two earlier projects and showcases our innovative learning method. One project originated from Street Art and a science fiction book, while the other came from a 3D printed spirograph. Together, they create a new image that inspires a fresh storyline for a new project. Guardians of the Void.

“The Breath of Life” Project

I have completed a combined Art and Science project “The Breath of Life”. The project illustrates how I create images and integrate science and technology within the process. Although some of the work is quite advanced it has been designed so that children and beginners can achieve similar results with alternative tools. A fundamental aim of the project is to facilitate investigation, innovation and creativity.

Breath Of Life

Innovation Centre Premises

Our initial aim was to create an innovation centre within The Engine Room. This is no longer possible so we will update our resource pool of educational and training material, and advice and guidance, while looking for an alternative venue.

Community “Vision” project

I am looking at setting up a community project, with as wide a range of people involved as possible. I decided on “Vision” as a theme, as I have been working on this project for some time and have a lot of material available. It is also ideal as an Arts and Science project as not only can we integrate art and science quite naturally but also use the fact that humans, animals and robots (sensors) all have very different vison systems. I’ve even managed to add in a bit of Greek Mythology, although this was stretching things a bit. Hopefully things will move in a number of very different directions. All the details can be found under “Vision” on this site.

Progress report on major initiatives (including AI breakthrough)

I have been working towards being in a position to put on an exhibition. Most of the work creating base materials has been completed and we are now in a position to look for a venue and determine the scope and approach. We have 6 categories of images: Photography, AI, Fractal Graphics, Future Art (mixed category), Story Book Art and Video. There are also a number of notebooks (17) covering how images they were produced and the messages behind them. All the notebooks can be found under the Digital Art and AI sections on this site. In addition to the artwork there are a number of small objects including AI electronics, 3D prints, and artwork on mugs and bags. The question is how do we cut it down to a reasonable size. This will depend on the venue.

Whilst developing the notebooks I used AI to investigate the opportunities for reimagining an A&E of the future. The NHS has sent a survey out on the subject with some simple documents. As my experience is in developing corporate strategies and redesigning major system, and I use AI regularly, it was a relatively simple exercise and enabled me to test the capabilities of AI. I had a major breakthrough in using the Innovation Centre and AI approach to solving real world problems.

Robotics AI – Tiny ML

I have a Arduino Tiny ML (Machine Learning) hardware and course material arriving today. A Microcontroller running Tiny ML, an interface board, camera for AI work and course material. I’ll write up my findings later.

I’ve added a New Section “AI” which covers this excellent course. It was great to see AI Models running on the small Arduino Microcontroller.

Introductory Project

I have just added an Introductory Project aimed at new learners. It was produced prior to the school holidays, as an interesting project for children, teachers and beginners. It covers Art, Robotics, Animation, AI and Coding. It could also be useful for anyone wanting to know how AI could help them. For example: creating document or flyers, advice on rejuvenating a business, where to find eating places, research …. Its in Our Resources section

Machine Learning Course

Having completed Introduction to Machine Learning and AI from The Raspberry Pi Foundation, I can recommend the course. It is aimed at teachers of children and beginners. The first chapter is particularly useful for children as it teaches them how to train a Machine Learning Model and use it within a Scratch Program. The course provides a good overview of Machine Learning and is particularly useful for Teachers.
